Beholder Tyrant Miniature — Epic Miniatures

Beholder Tyrant Miniature — Epic Miniatures - Ottsworkshop

If you've got a big boss encounter coming up and you want the miniature to do some of the heavy lifting before a single dice is rolled, this one is genuinely hard to beat. The Beholder Tyrant from Epic Miniatures is the kind of sculpt that earns a reaction from across the table.

From a painting standpoint, there's a lot to work with here. Both sculpts in this set have brilliant surface texture — the main Beholder has a bumpy, almost pustule-like skin across its dome that takes a wash and drybrush really well, while the second sculpt has a scaled, rocky texture that rewards a more layered approach. The eye stalks on the first sculpt have these satisfying bulbous tips that are just begging for a glowing OSL effect if you're up for it. The large central eye on the second sculpt is cleanly defined and gives you a lovely focal point to build your colour scheme around. Both sit on detailed rubble bases — the first even has a small skull tucked in at the bottom, a nice touch.

The Beholder as a monster concept has roots going back decades in tabletop gaming — a floating, many-eyed predator that's become one of the most iconic aberrations in the hobby. Part of what makes it so enduring is that every studio seems to have their own take on the silhouette, and Epic's version leans into something genuinely grotesque and full of character rather than playing it safe.

These are part of Epic Miniatures' range here at Otts Workshop, and if you haven't browsed their catalogue before, it's worth a look — they've got a knack for aberrations and eldritch creatures that photograph beautifully and print cleanly. Scale-wise these sit comfortably as large creature miniatures, so expect them to tower over your standard 28–32mm player characters in a satisfying way.

If you're building out a Underdark encounter collection, the Beholder Tyrant fits right in alongside mind flayers, oozes, and all the other horrors that live in the deep dark. It works just as well as a standalone centrepiece monster for a one-shot or campaign climax.

Worth knowing — if you want a slightly different interpretation of the same creature, we also carry the Beholder Bundle by Tytan Troll, which gives you a few more size and pose options in one go. Both are brilliant in their own way, it really just comes down to what fits your table.

You can grab the Beholder Tyrant from the product page linked below. As always, if you've got questions about print quality, scaling, or anything else before you order, just drop us a message — we're happy to help.
