Cat-people have turned up in folklore and fantasy across cultures for centuries — clever, quick, and just a little bit unpredictable. It's no surprise they've become a favourite player character race at tabletop tables everywhere. When a miniature actually captures that energy rather than just slapping a cat head on a generic body, it's worth talking about.

This CatFolk Fighter set from Epic Miniatures gives you two genuinely different characters in one product. The first is a scrappy feline rogue-type in leather armour, wide-legged stance, dagger extended, one hand raised as if weighing up whether to fight or bolt. The fur texture across the head and hands is brilliant — properly detailed, not just a smoothed-over suggestion of fur. The armour panels have that worn, practical look you'd expect from someone who actually uses their kit.

The second sculpt is a completely different vibe. This one is a hunched, hooded figure — more wanderer or witch-doctor than fighter — carrying a lantern in one fist and a staff topped with a round pommel in the other. The hood itself is stitched and patched, and there's a rope coiled around the torso. It reads somewhere between a travelling mystic and something you'd find lurking at a crossroads at midnight. Brilliant contrast to the first sculpt, genuinely.

Both sit at medium size, which puts them comfortably in 28–32mm range alongside most standard fantasy minis. The sculpts are pre-supported, so if you're printing at home they're ready to go without a lot of fiddling. Clean up should be straightforward on both — the detail is deep enough to hold a wash really well, and the fur on the fighter especially will reward a decent drybrush.

If you like this kind of anthropomorphic warrior character, it's worth browsing the wider Cat Folk miniatures range — there's a solid selection building up there. And if you want something in a similar style but a different creature entirely, the Weasel Fighter by Goons is a great alternative with a lot of the same scrappy energy.

Epic Miniatures consistently nail this kind of character work — the proportions are slightly stylised without tipping into cartoon, which makes them genuinely versatile at the table. They paint up well and they photograph well, which matters if you like sharing your work.

Both sculpts are available now at Otts Workshop. If you're building out a party of animalfolk adventurers or just need a brilliant CatFolk character for your next campaign, this one's an easy recommendation.
