Boss Miniatures

Bosses are the dominant figures at the apex of criminal organisations, monster lairs, dungeon complexes, and antagonist factions — powerful individuals whose defeat represents the resolution of a significant threat or the conclusion of a major narrative arc. Their authority over subordinates is maintained through fear, respect, magical compulsion, or the practical reality that no one beneath them has yet proven capable of taking their place. Bosses vary enormously in nature — a crime lord pulling strings from a fortified city estate, a dragon presiding over a kobold warren, a lich commanding legions of undead from a sealed tower, or a cult leader whose charisma has bound dozens of followers to a destructive cause. In fantasy RPG settings, bosses function as the primary obstacles and objectives of campaigns, their presence organising the threats that adventuring parties face into a coherent hierarchy with a single point of resolution. They appear at the climax of dungeon crawls, faction conflicts, investigative storylines, and any campaign structure built around the identification, confrontation, and defeat of a central antagonist.
