Bards have always been one of those character archetypes that's genuinely tricky to get right in miniature form. Too stiff and they lose all the energy. Too busy and the detail gets lost on the tabletop. Getting that sense of movement and personality into a small resin figure takes real skill, and honestly, these Half Elf Bards from Epic Miniatures nail it.

The set comes as three separate sculpts, each with its own instrument and pose. One figure plays what looks like a double flute, skirts mid-swirl, full of motion. Another is caught mid-dance, one arm raised holding a tambourine, the other extended — she looks like she's actually performing, not just standing there. The third holds a small handheld crossbow raised in one hand while the other reaches forward, which gives her a more roguish, streetwise feel. They share the same ornate layered skirt design, decorated conical hat, and twisted rope belt, so they read as a matching group without being identical.

The sculpt quality is what you'd expect from Epic Miniatures — crisp edges on the hat detailing, good definition in the fabric folds, and faces that actually have expression without looking cartoonish. The braided rope detail on the belt and the layered hem on the skirts give painters plenty of texture to work with.

All three are on a medium 25.5mm base, so they sit comfortably alongside standard 28mm fantasy figures. For painting, the layered skirts are a great opportunity to try wet blending or subtle shading across the tiers. The hat and rope details are genuinely satisfying to pick out with a fine brush. These would look brilliant in a warm tavern palette — deep burgundies, golds, and earthy browns — though that's entirely your call.
If you're after more pointed-ear characters to fill out your roster, the Female Elf Noble by my3DPrintForge is worth a look — a more formal, composed sculpt that contrasts nicely with the bards' energy.
These work brilliantly as player characters, of course, but they're just as useful as NPCs — a travelling performer troupe, a festival crowd, a contact in a city marketplace. If you're building out that kind of urban scene, our full range of bard miniatures has plenty more to browse alongside these.
Each sculpt is available individually, so you can grab just the one that fits your campaign or pick up all three for the full ensemble. Printed to order here in the UK, as always.
