There's something genuinely satisfying about a miniature that looks like it crawled out of a nightmare and landed on your tabletop with bad intentions. The Summoned Beast from Epic Miniatures is exactly that kind of piece — the sort of thing that makes your players go quiet when you put it on the table.
Folklore and fantasy are full of winged, furred, demonic beasts that blur the line between animal and something much worse. Creatures dragged from some dark beyond, all teeth and membrane and fury. That's the energy this miniature is going for, and it lands it brilliantly.
The set comes with multiple sculpts — four poses in total — so you've got real options depending on what moment you're staging. Some are low and prowling, feet splayed wide with wings half-spread like the creature is about to launch itself. Others are more upright, mid-lunge or reaching forward with those heavy clawed hands. The detail throughout is genuinely impressive: thick layered fur rendered in flowing lines, broad membranous wings with visible bone structure, and faces that carry real weight — horned, snarling, dense with texture. One of the sculpts has a small crowned figure perched at the top of the torso, which is a lovely strange touch.
These are labelled as Large size, and the scale comparison shots confirm they're properly imposing next to a standard d20. They'd paint up brilliantly in deep purples and blacks for a fiendish summoning theme, or go warmer — rust and ochre — if you want something more elemental and feral. The fur texture in particular will reward a good drybrush followed by careful lining.
If you like this general direction but want something that fits a rougher, more grounded encounter, the Beast Folk with Twohanded Mace by Goons is worth a look — a different style, more humanoid, but that same beastly energy.
